One of those procrastination things

Don't know why I haven't put these up before, but I guess it's just a procrastination thing for no real reason. Anyway, sketches from the Andrew Bird concert, more than a year ago now at the San Diego SOMA, a little clubby venue, standing room only. I didn't remember to bring my camera, but I did have my sketchbook. So here's a first, sketching at a concert. The club was dark and crowded, so these are all really rough contour line sketches.

This is the guitar player from Loney Dear. They opened for Andrew Bird.

This is the singer of Loney Dear.

The piano player from Loney Dear.

And some sketches of Andrew Bird. He moves around a lot, so he's hard to capture. Xp

He looks a bit Picasso in the top one, and a bit statue-like in the bottom one.

These are a bit better. . .

This one's kinda a fun one, really out of proportion, a bit dwarf Andrew or bobble-headed Andrew Bird. ;p

Elbow at waist look. . .

This actually looks more like the guitar player of Loney Dear, despite the fact that he's got no face. />

Hopefully, I'll get around to scanning more stuff soon and starting on all those projects that I want to do.

hey- these are cool. Are you sketching while not looking at the paper? I really like the shapes of the lines.

Yeah, for the most part, it was too dark to look at the paper, though I did get a few chances when the lights got a little better, which is probably why they still look human-shaped. :p Would actually be fun to try it again, if and when I'm at another concert where I'm close enough to see faces.

I vaguely remember you sketching there. I like the ones where his face floated off and the violin at chin.
